Course Overview
Elementary social studies provides a foundation for students to understand the world around them and the people that make up that world. Students learn about their community, the people that make up their community, and the geography of their community. They learn about local history by studying the events and the important people to their state along with their place in American history. They receive an introduction to American government and civics. Students are also introduced to topics in economics and geography. Tutors help students learn to use a variety of resources to develop foundational thinking and problem-solving skills. Students learn how to use maps and data. They read important documents like the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. Students will also learn the foundations of writing for social studies classes.
