Dr. Bates
Social Studies Ph.D. EducationDr. Bates has over 15 years of teaching experience at the secondary, undergraduate, and graduate levels in History, Social Studies, interdisciplinary studies, and education. He holds a Ph.D. in Education and Curriculum Studies, a master’s degree in education from DePaul University, and currently owns an Illinois secondary education teaching license. He specializes in teaching US History (regular, honors, and AP), European History (AP), World History (standard, honors), study and time management skills, social science research, and writing skills. He believes “through a student-centered learning environment; the student will learn the skills that make them successful at being a better student and learner.”
Ms. Monteiro
ELA, ESL & Test Prep M.A. EducationMs. Monteiro attended the University of Massachusetts, where she earned a B.A. in Teaching, a master’s of Education in Bilingual, ESL, and Multicultural Education, and Ed.S. in Reading and Writing. Ms. Monteiro is a teacher at an independent school in Florida and has been teaching English as a second language and working with international students for over ten years. She is licensed in Massachusetts and Florida K-12 ESL and Reading Specialist for grades 5-12 and currently teaches AP Literature and Composition and Honors English IV at her school. She also has extensive experience teaching and tutoring students as they prepare for TOEFL, SAT, and ACT.
Dr. Reuter
Science Ph.D. Curriculum & InstructionDr. Reuter completed her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Louisiana State University and a B.S. in Biochemistry from Tulane University. She received the Presidential Award of Excellence in Secondary Science Teaching. She holds a Louisiana Teaching Certification in the areas of online instructor and secondary science for Biology, Chemistry, and General Science for grades 6-12. She has more than 10 years of online science teaching experience with high school students on Advanced Placement, Honor, and non-honors level courses. She thoroughly enjoys working with international students and helping them reach their full potential in a student-centric environment with a personalized and meaningful learning experience.
Mr. Ross
Religion & Social Studies M.A. Theological StudiesMr. Ross has over 15 years of experience in providing instruction in English composition and speaking skills to international students and eight years of experience teaching Religious Studies at the university level. Mr. Ross received his master’s degree in Theological Studies from Harvard University and is a Ph.D. candidate in Religious Studies at McGill University. His teaching philosophy is to create a good atmosphere in which students and teachers work together to pinpoint and achieve the student’s learning goals and aid them in mastering the subject to the best of their abilities.
Mr. Liu
Math M.A. Mathematics EducationMr. Liu is bilingual in Mandarin and English and has over seven years of experience teaching a diverse group of students. He holds a master’s degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics for Teaching from the University of California, Los Angeles. Mr. Liu guides students to improve their learning efficiency and provides valuable suggestions on time management and study skills. Mr. Liu’s patient approach and focus on developing learning skills have helped his students achieve excellent results. He is exceptionally skilled at understanding each student’s learning style and improving their performance on tests and exams significantly.
